Find your Hotel in Olbia & North East Sardinia.
If you are arriving at Olbia airport or port the choices for where to stay are various. Here you can find some of the world's most luxurious hotels on the Aga Khan's "Costa Smeralda" (and in high season; July/August, the prices to match!) or other locations with beautiful coastlines, countryside and some remarkable history. So whether you just want a place to relax by the pool or fancy a mix of beach and culture by combining 2 or 3 locations, northern Sardinia can offer just what you want.

Choosing your hotel location?
Essentially the areas can be grouped into 4 areas: the area just north of Olbia including the Costa Smeralda, the northern coast including Palau and Santa Teresa and west to Castelsardo, south of Olbia with resorts such as San Teodoro and Budoni and further south the areas around Cala Gonone.
A Hotel in the area of the Costa Smeralda?
Famous throughout the world for unashamed luxury hotels; the Costa Smeralda and the surrounding areas are relatively modern architecturally sympathetic creations (the inland towns that give the areas their names are mostly fairly nondescript) with a focus on beautiful stretches of coastline and modern tourist ports populated with luxury yachts and flanked by exclusive restaurants.
Locations; Arzachena >> Golfo Aranci >> Olbia >> Porto Cervo >> Porto Rotondo >> San Pantaleo >>
A Hotel on the North Coast?
Head further north are the pretty port towns of Santa Teresa (ferries to Corsica) and Palau (stunning views from "Capo D'Orso", a few km out of town) from where you can take a boat to La Maddalena the largest of the islands within the National Park of the archipelago which bears its' name. Further west is Castelsardo a historic town huddled around a castle on a high coastal promontory; also a good base if you want to also visit the other highlights of the north west: Alghero (" Grotto di Nettuno") and Stintino ("La Peolsa" beach). For a total change of scenery: check out Tempio Pausania with its mountainous surroundings and grey granite buildings in its historic centre.
Locations; Castelsardo >> La Maddalena >> Palau >> Santa Teresa >> Tempio Pausania >>
A Hotel south of Olbia?
The areas south of Olbia are very popular with mainland Italians due to the combination of easy access from Olbia's ferries and far cheaper prices than the Costa Smeralda. Budoni is a nice enough relaxing coastal resort: nevertheless surprising that Trip Adviser consider it the No1 hot location (worldwide?) for 2009.
Locations; Budoni >> Capo Coda di Cavallo >> Porto San Paolo >> San Teodoro >>
A Hotel in the area of Cala Gonone?
Cala Gonone is an attractive coastal town with boat trips to the "Grotto di Bue Marino" and isolated beaches further south. Alternatively this area is popular for trekking boith along the coast and inland. With the mountainous Gargentu national park a little further south. Between Olbia and Cala Gonone lies tha attractive town of Orosei has a genteel and relaxing feel around its main piazza; although most of the hotels are on the coast nearby.
Locations; Cala Gonone >> Cala Liberotto >> Orosei >>
